Partick Thistle - Firhill Stadium

18th December 1999

Partick Thistle 1-0 Stenhousemuir

Firhill for Thrills, they say.  Or the Daily Record does anyway, although I think the phrase owes its existence more to alliterative convenience than any basis in fact.  The few times I have watched Partick Thistle play at Firhill have been deadly dull affairs.  And such was this.

To be fair, Thistle did not have to be much more than competent to see off a vapid Stenhousemuir side, this afternoon.

The only goal was scored by Swede Peter LINDAU on 25 minutes, after he had been put through by Paul McIntyre.  Lindau lofted the ball over the advancing visiting ‘keeper Lyndsay Hamilton who, I felt, made the scorer’s task simpler than it should have been by going to ground rather early.

Partick Thistle did win my prize for the best programme cover on my travels, with a picture of Namibian-born winger Quinton Jacobs hugging a snowman.  Great !
