Bathgate Thistle 1-2 Ashfield
(Scottish Junior Cup second round)
Yes, the better side won in the end, but I thought it was a decent display by Bathgate - particularly against a side going so well in the West Super. Bathgate deservedly went ahead in 15 minutes (Twitter says Buchanan, and who am I to disagree), and McColligan (I think it was) then hit a post. Ashfield did miss two sitters in front of goal, but I felt Bathgate were just worth their 1-0 half-time lead.

Poor (or non existant, really) marking at a corner allowed the visitors to equalise 5 minutes after the break, and thereafter the game opened up as both sides went for a winner. Ashfield's No 6 saw red after a second yellow with 20 minutes to go, but the Glasgow side barely seemed to miss him, and the shaven-headed (or maybe just baldy) sub scored a neat winner in the 77th minute.
I was a wee bit disappointed at the amount of route one stuff Bathgate played after the break once they had the not insubstantial wind at their back, particularly as Bonnes on the wing had caused Ashfield all manner of grief in the first period but, all in all, a reasonable performance with the better side progressing.
