Mains Park

Linlithgow RFC 44-22 Moray RFC

28th September 2024

Linlithgow Rugby Club have been on the go since 1970, and presently compete in the National League Division which, if you ignore the Super Series sides, represents the fifth tier of Scottish club rugby.

Wikipedia lists a collection of 7s competition won by the club, but I am sure there have also probably been a number of successes in the XV form of the game over the years.  The club's own website refers to Division VII titles in 1983, the Division V title in 1988 and Division Three Champions in 1998.

This afternoon saw the visit of Moray RFC to Linlithgow, both teams having made starts to the new season best described as "mixed".

Although the final try score of 5 to 4 in the home side's favour may suggest a close encounter this afternoon, in the event Linlithgow were never behind in this match and ran out moderately comfortable winners here.  Luke O'HARA and Ruaridh STEWART each touched down twice in their side's 42-22 win.

A VERY busy car park - get there early should you ever be planning a visit.

The Edinburgh/Glasgow Queen Street line runs alongside the ground

This pic, and the three following show Moray number eight Neil ALEXANDER
going over for his side's third try early in the second half.
Aided just a touch by the muscle of his fellow forward Mark Taylor (No3)

Linlithgow's Ruaridh STEWART scores his side's fourth try.

Moray scored a consolation try in the final few minutes.
