The Glasgow Warriors eliminated Cape Town based DHL Stormers in the quarter-final play-off of the United Rugby Championship this evening, setting up a semi-final tie with Munster in Limerick.
Although Glasgow outscored the Stomers by three tries to two, it was really the contrasting kicking fortunes of both sides which lent a decidedly one-sided look to the final score-line. For whilst Warrior's George Horne was successful in each of his five attempts at goal (two penalties and three conversions), Stormers' Maine Libbock endured a dreadful evening battling with the Scotstoun wind, missing all his kicks. Although to be (sorta) fair, he did hit a post with one conversion attempt.
For the record, Glasgow's try scorers were Sebastián Cancelliere, Henco Venter and Ross Thompson. Whilst Ben Loader and Paul de Wet went over for the visitors.

The blustery wind was such that Stormers' kicker Maine Libbok required the assistance of a team-mate's finger to keep the ball from blowing away. Not that it helped him. |
