Mannofield

Scotland v UAE

14th August 2022

This was Scotland's third game in a three-team six-match ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 mini-group, which took place at Mannofield in Aberdeen; the home of Aberdeenshire Cricket Club.

The Scots had already enjoyed a 64 run victory over United Arab Emirates four days earlier, and this match proved even more one-sided.

Scotland posted a hefty target of 254-9 in their innings (Matthew Cross top-scoring with 85), which their opponents never really looked like chasing down.  At the end of the 13th over, and sitting on 68/3 UAE were actually ahead of Scotland's run rate.  But the prompt elimination of both Chundangapoyil Rizwan and then Rohan Mustafa in quick succession, pretty much ended the business as a contest.

Vriitya Aravind's occasional boundaries in his fine half-century did keep his side's run rate ticking over - but at nowhere near a grand enough rate to worry the hosts.

UAE were eventually all out for 168 in the 41st over, a good 87 runs short of their target.

Scotland bods emerge to field the UAE innings.

Scotland v UAE - August 2022

In their other matches in the group Scotland shared a win each with USA, which left Scotland handily placed in second spot for one of the three 2023 Cricket World Cup Qualifiers up for grabs.

Scotland's next set of fixtures takes place in November 2022 when they travel to Namibia to play the hosts and Nepal.
