Fullarton Park, Troon

Marr 17-26 Stirling County

28th February 2026

The previous evening I had watched Edinburgh give visitors Scarlets a 14 point start, then come back in the second half to snatch a narrow win.

And, for a brief period, I thought I may see a repeat performance here at Fullarton Park in Troon, this afternoon.

But Marr, having fought back from 0-14 down to trail just 17-21 just after the break, sorta appeared to run out of steam as the second-half progressed.  And a late try by visiting Ryan SOUTHERN clinched a bonus point win for already promoted Stirling County.

Marr currently play in the second tier of Scottish club rugby (National League 1), perhaps surprisingly, given they were Scottish Champions as recently as 2021/22.  And will be competing again at that level in 2026/27, given a (likely) fourth placing this season.

I could not quite work out the Home v Away supporter split this afternoon.  But, irrespective, I felt this was an impressively large attendance for a Scottish club rugby match at any level.
